The "first impression" in dating has changed with the advent of online dating communities. Today the first impression comes from viewing an online dating profile- meaning your profile should likewise be up to standards in order to attract a partner.
Try to stay away from anything negative- this shows you may not be a fun date. Also shy away from political or religious subjects if possible- these can easily turn possible dates off. Instead try to show that you are a fun and caring person. And above all else, work humor into the online dating profile: studies show that humor is a big attraction in the dating scene.
Another good tip is to stay away from any specific or detailed "this is what I want" descriptions. These descriptions will discredit possible dates as not being up to your standards- and you will get much less favorable results in return.
Online Dating: The First Date
After initial contact and conversation are undertaken, the first date should follow. The first date is the first real impression that the date will get of you- so the pressure is on to create a fun and invigorating experience for both parties.
Ice skating, rollerblading, and rock climbing are three great first dates that incorporate exercise. Often, these activities aren't too common in daily routine- meaning that both parties in the date will be likely to have a unique experience on the date.
For more expensive ideas, and a little extra positive impression, you may try a date at a concert, fancy restaurant, or even go swimming with dolphins. Whatever the choice, these expensive options should be paid by you if you suggest them- as your partner may not have the funds necessary for such extravagant events. Keep in mind, however, that these dates can often send wrong impressions. If the first date is too extravagant for your wallet, future dates may become a burden as your partner may expect the same quality of date.
